Prakriti Foundation first presented a festival of
Dhrupad performances by senior and distinguished practitioners of
this classical form in February 2006 to an appreciative Chennai
audience. The enthusiastic response led to ‘Gharana’, an annual
festival of Hindustani classical music that is held every year in
Chennai in March.
In a city dominated by the Carnatic tradition,
Gharana represents an opportunity for music lovers to connect with
the richly resonant art of Hindustani music. Explore this website to
find out the artistes we have presented so far, and the concerts we
have in store for you. Give us your feedback to help us shape future
editions of Gharana.
